Quick Answer

The free Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter demo is available on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. It lets players experience the story through Chapter 1, and official Steam and PlayStation descriptions say demo save data can carry into the full version. The reviewed sources do not confirm cross-platform save transfer, automatic import, or a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 demo.

Where the demo is available

The official Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter website links players to the current PlayStation, Steam, and Nintendo storefronts. The platform listings currently identify these demo routes:

The full game is also listed for Nintendo Switch 2, but a separate Switch 2 demo listing is not confirmed by the reviewed official sources. Storefront availability and terms can vary by region.

What the demo includes

The official Steam Community announcement says the demo continues the journey after Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter and reaches through Chapter 1. It includes Estelle and allies, story investigation, exploration, and battles in the second chapter.

The announcement also warns that the demo contains spoilers for the first chapter and recommends completing that game first. Viewer Mode and Movie Viewer are not available in the demo. The official descriptions do not establish an exact playtime or a complete list of side content.

How save transfer works

Steam and PlayStation state that save data from the demo can be carried into the full version so players can continue their journey. That is the current official promise; it does not specify whether the process is automatic or manual, which fields transfer, or whether the save must remain on the same platform.

Cross-platform transfer between Steam, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 is not confirmed by the reviewed official sources. Do not treat the carryover wording as cloud synchronization or a cross-store entitlement.

Full-game release date

The publisher’s official website and the Nintendo listing state a full-game release date of September 17, 2026. Steam currently displays September 16, 2026 on its storefront, which may reflect platform timing or regional date conventions. These listings should not be read as two separate materially different launches without further official clarification.

Official demo next step

If you want to try the game before launch, use the official storefront for your platform: download the PS5 demo, check the Steam demo, or open the Nintendo Switch listing. Check the local storefront for the current availability and any regional requirements.
