The free Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5) is available today, but the most useful PC details are about scope: which mods the new in-game browser actually covers, what dual wielding permits, and which graphics options changed. CD PROJEKT RED’s Patch notes confirm the features, while the launch-day Xbox Wire update says the free update is available now.
The first rollout includes PC on Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store, plus Mac through Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. CD PROJEKT RED says Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version will follow in the days after. That platform split matters if you play on a Mac: the update is not arriving on every Mac storefront at the same time.
The new mod browser is a curated starting point
Update 2.5 adds cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io. Players can browse and install a selection of community-created mods through a new in-game menu, with more expected over time. That is a useful lower-friction route for supported mods, but it is not a promise that every PC mod—or every tool in an existing setup—will appear in the catalog.
The distinction is easy to miss in a headline about “mod support.” For a PC player, the practical move is to treat the new menu as an additional, curated option and check what it actually lists before assuming it replaces or covers a manually managed loadout. The developer’s wording is deliberately narrower than “all mods are now supported.”
Dual wielding is tied to one perk path and two weapon types
The new Double Trouble perk sits in the Cool tree, alongside four auxiliary perks. CD PROJEKT RED says the path enables dual wielding of Power-category pistols and revolvers. It does not describe a general ability to pair any two weapons, so players planning a shotgun or sniper-focused build should not read the announcement that way.
Windows Central’s Early report on the teased update focused on the new playstyle before the full notes were out. The final weapon-category limit is the more useful detail for anyone deciding whether to shift attribute or perk points.
The two new quests have separate unlock conditions
The Edgerunners-linked Clampdown quest unlocks after you complete The Heist, finish two gigs for Wakako, and then wait for her message. Its five-piece King-inspired gear set is earned during that quest.
Welcome to Paradise has a different gate: complete The Heist and reach 15 Street Cred. Keeping the requirements separate should save returning players a little menu-searching; neither quest is simply an automatic reward for installing the patch.
There is another story thread beyond those two quests: Update 2.5 adds 12 Minor Arcana Tarot cards. Scanning any one starts an extension to Fool on the Hill, and finding all 12 earns a special reward. If you are returning for new story content, the cards are worth watching for alongside fixer messages.
Check your graphics options after updating
For PC players, the patch adds DLSS 4.5 support, including up to 6X Multi Frame Generation or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and updates the available AMD FSR choices. CD PROJEKT RED says FSR 3 upscaling is removed, while FSR 2.1, FSR 4, and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remain; the update also adds an FSR Anti-Lag 2 toggle.
Those are feature and compatibility notes, not a benchmark. The patch notes list performance optimizations—including ray-tracing improvements—but do not promise a particular frame rate across PC hardware. After the update, check the options your system actually exposes rather than assuming an old preset or upscaling selection carried over unchanged.
What PC players should check first
Before changing a build or drawing conclusions about performance, check the game’s Mods and Graphics menus. CD PROJEKT RED describes the mod.io integration as a first step that offers a selection of player-created mods, with more to come. Search for the specific content you want; the notes do not say the panel imports or validates mods installed through other PC tools, so do not assume it has migrated an existing setup.
Then compare the rendering options your hardware exposes. FSR 3 upscaling is no longer included, while FSR 2.1, FSR 4, and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remain. NVIDIA distinguishes DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution, available across GeForce RTX GPUs, from 6X Multi Frame Generation, which its DLSS 4.5 release details limit to RTX 50-series cards. That makes the patch’s “up to 6X” note a hardware-specific feature, not a universal setting. Neither the patch notes nor NVIDIA’s compatibility details establish a frame-rate result for your particular PC.
The update also lets players restyle hand cyberware at one of five Glamdocs, marked by a spray-paint icon on the map. Saves are now grouped by playthrough, and apartment and vehicle stashes have item filters—small changes that can make a returning save easier to navigate. Windows Central’s Full Update 2.5 rundown highlights the same quality-of-life additions.
